The Announcement You've Been Waiting For...

We're expecting our first child :) !!!!!

The baby will probaby be born in late Oct./early Nov.

We told our family for the first time on Easter, so you aren't really behind on things...

I've haven't been very sick at all, which is a huge blessing!

There's not a whole lot else to say, except we're really excited and you can all be praying for us!

As for other news that we haven't been good at keeping up on - we've been staying very busy and everything is going well. Aaron and another guy put in this counter-top and cabinets in the church fellowship hall. Since we're using the church kitchen, they'll use this for potlucks and things. Recognize these people? We had Amos and Rebekah and their family over for supper one night.
One day we got a good dusting of hail! It was pretty good size for around here, but not big enough to cause any damage.
The only other really exciting news, almost as exciting as the baby...., is that we just got a new used tiller - It's a Troy-built with very little use on it and we got it for a great deal, so even though out garden is still very muddy, Aaron was excited and had to try it out.

Congrats, Naomi and Aaron!!! We will be praying for you and the new little one to come!!! I know that you are extremely excited! I have a really random question to ask...I have listened to Dr. S. M. Davis and such on courtship and betrothal, and I noticed a while back that you were espoused in June and then engaged in September. What is the difference between espoused and engaged? You and Aaron have been such a blessing in your testimony!

Have a great week!

We are so, so, so excited, Naomi and Aaron!! Daniel and David needed a cousin! We just know you will both be wonderful parents who train your children up to love and serve God. That's what makes it so exciting!! So again, congratulations from us all!! (thanks for posting this too, Naomi, one more day and I was going to spill the beans!)

CONGRATULATIONS!!! But I must say I don't get 1/999,999,999,999 as excited about a tiller as I do about a new cousin. ;)

Let me add our congratulations and excitement to all the rest! We are way more excited about the baby than the tiller!!!!! It does look like a great tiller and we hope you have fun with it . . . and that you have an abundant harvest.

Congratulations! May the Lord bless you! That tiller reminds me of mine that just ran away across the yard a few weeks ago because I lost control of it. My husband immediately built me some raised beds and I doubt I will be using the tiller much anymore! Well, I'm older than you! Congratulations again and blessings!

Aaron and Naomi,
A hearty congratulations is in order!! Psalms 127:3-5 Lo, children are an heritage of the LORD: and the fruit of the womb is his reward. As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth. Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate. May God bless you richly with a quiver full. You will be great parents and we shall be praying for you. The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Ghost, be with you both.

Love,

Uncle Victor and Aunt Shelly

Jennifer,

Sorry I took so long to answer - I tried one other time and it didn't go.

Anyway, I don't think there really is a set defenition to engagement and espousal - it's kind of up to the families. Espousal/betrothal carries with it more of a family approved and committed conotation than ordinary engagement does. But technically I think they should be the same. My brother and his wife didn't do an engagement at all, but for us, since we didn't know each other very well when we got betrothed and were both too busy at the time to focus on the relationship, even though we were committed we did a seperate engagement - you know, where he gave me a ring and actually proposed (Dad did the negotiating for the espousal!) and that's when we said "I love you" for the first time and began planning the wedding with a date and all. It also made it easier to tell people who have never heard of betrothal and to whom we really didn't feel like explaining the whole thing! I told someone who asked what betrothal was, that we were engaged to be engaged :) That's just what we did and I think it worked pretty well! :)
