Home, Haiti, Hibbing, and Florida

Hello everyone! Hope things are going well for you - I have more wedding pictures to share, but thought I'd better put on a post about what we've been up to the last couple weeks.

A couple people gave us fun dishes, and we've been enjoying having special meals every once and a while - plus it's good practice for having company :)
The church here helped out with a project called "Buckets of Hope" for people in Haiti - the idea is to fill a 5 gallon bucket with food that will feed a family for a week and then they can use the bucket for water or whatever afterwards.

There's a list that told us what to pack and it's stuff like rice, beans, oil, sugar, flour, spaghetti, and peanut butter. Most American families would find that a rather blah menu for a week, but it really is a great idea.
Last week, we were able to go to the "Enrichment Conference" at Pensecola Christian College - we flew out of Hibbing - it has one gate, but they still did a very through security check - I had to have extra checking because of my skirt!
No mall atmosphere in the Hibbing airport! Instead they had mounted MN animals :)
Aaron went to PCC, so he gave me a great tour of the campus and all the places he used to hang out. (in case anyone else was wondering, there is no barbed wire on the fence....) It's very beautiful and it was fun to see more of where he spent part of his life.

There was no snow, but it was still chilly for FL - when we left, it was 35 degrees there, and 45 when we landed here!
The Four Winds dining room - one of the most fun things was seeing our friends that are there - Aaron ran into former classmates everywhere we went and he knows a couple current students from a church he worked at. Then one of my best friends, Julie, is down there - I got to surprise her and it was wonderful being able to catch up on life-since-the-wedding. Also I met a friend of the J. family, I saw a few people from when I worked at Camp Chetek a couple summers ago....a friend of the P. family and a friend of the H. family are down there as well, but I didn't actually talk to them.
We really were there for the conference though - it started with a banquet and service Tues. night, on both Wed. and Thur. mornings, we had 4 sessions - (talk about a lot of preaching....) - some were all together, and some were workshops. I went to a couple classes for "Senior Pastor Wives" :) They closed with a "camp meeting" on Thurs. night at Camp 'o the Pines.

The speakers were Johnny Pope, Kenny Baldwin, Scott Tewell, Francis Taylor, and Pat Smith - if you've ever heard any of them, you know they're great!
To bring us back to MN reality, the day after we got back, we and a few church kids went sledding at Bemis Hill - in spite of the warm weather, the snow was good and I think everyone had a great time.

Have a wonderful week!

I'm so glad you guys got to go on that trip!! It sounds like you had a great little get-away...even tho you haven't been married long, I'm sure you still appreciate time away from home and responsibilities once in awhile. :) I'm sooooooo bummed that the conference wasn't THIS week tho!!! We're going to be there this Thursday-Sunday...it would have been fun to hang out with you guys!!! I thought it was funny too that Thomas told me you were down there...he knows more about my cousins than I do!! :)

Maybe they did extra checking because the thought you'd have a bomb underneath the long skirt...
