The Best Honeymoon Ever

Hi everyone! Sorry it's been so long since we posted, but we've been busy! Mom said I'd do a long post with wedding pictures, but you see, I don't have any wedding pictures, so that isn't going to happen until later, but I'm sure you won't mind seeing them whenever...

Aaron didn't tell me where we were going on our honeymoon until after we left the church - our destination was the North Shore of Minnesota - I live in MN and I'd never really been up there, but it was very, very beautiful - it was only a 6 1/2 hour drive, but it would have been hard to find a prettier place even if you flew halfway across the world!

The picture above was taken Saturday morning (no we didn't go the whole way the first night...) and the ice on the truck is due to SOMEONE - or rather, someones - who thought icing would be more original than streamers and tin cans...however, some wonderful people cleared off the windshield and opened the doors for us before we had to leave. You'll notice - Aaron's truck has a middle seat :)

We stayed at the Cascade Lodge - it's 82 years old and the lodge, restraunt, and cabins all had an old time feel to them - very quaint and cozy - plus all the modern conveniences...
The cabin we stayed in was called the "honeymoon cabin" - the bridge is over Cascade Creek.
The outside of our cabin taken from the hill above it - unlike home, it's very hilly there - Aaron said parts of the drive reminded him of TN.
Probably our favorite thing about the cabin was the fireplace - Aaron built us a fire almost every day :)
We went to several restraunts that people recommend to us, but one of our favorites was the one at our resort -
It snowed a little bit the first day, but overall the weather was beautiful! We stayed right across the road from Lake Superior itself - and enjoyed walking along it, as well as driving along it - in the course of the week, we drove Hwy 61 all the way from Duluth to Grand Portage and you're along the lake the whole way. The snow, the rocks, the pines, the lake - Wow! Lake Superior is huge! It just sort of makes you feel like God is bigger than all your problems.
The pictures don't really do it justice - some of you photographer friends will have to go check it out yourselves...But then, it really wouldn't have mattered where we were, because the best part was being together! Now and forever :)
I should have a couple more posts of honeymoon pictures and then I'll try to post some of the kitchen project we've been working on.

I think the best part of my honeymoon was the long drives of talking, sitting in reverence of each other and our begining together. Some people go to Disney Land . . . I preferred a quiet solemn occassion!

I like the picture of you on the rocks. On our honeymoon, I put on my snowsuit and sat on the icy rocks to look at beautiful Lake Superior.

I am so happy for you too! I kept thinking of you on the weekend of your wedding and praying.

My husband and I stayed at the same lodge (also in one of the cabins) for our anniversary one year. I clearly remember crossing the road to head down the embankment and explore the lake below as well as the thick fog we drove through to get there. The North Shore is one of our favorites and now our kids' too. We try to make it an annual trip.

What a beautiful wedding. Hugs from the Twin Cities.

Well, SJ, cooking is going fine - Mom told me cooking for two people was easier, and she was right :) We've made a couple trips to the grocery store, but Aaron had food laying around that needs to be eaten that he never found time to make, so we're trying to use up some of that first...It is different doing everything myself, but it's actually nice to do housework after being so busy with wedding planning and more stressful things the last few months.

Rachel and Jennie, I really will try to contact you sometime, we have a good phone plan here, so one of these days...
